The Philippines is often recognized as the only Catholic country in South East Asia. In fact, the Philippines is the now the only country where divorce is not yet legalized (Malta had legalized divorce last year.)
Catholicism had been rooted in the country through the propagation of Spanish friars. Now, after almost 4 centuries, the Filipinos are still faithful to the Church, even though with the rise of technology. We continually see the new generation of teenagers still following the Catholic faith, although nowadays, some of them prefer to go to the mall or to some other spot to have fun rather than to spend at least an hour contemplating to the word of God.
